Ziv-Av designs a transferable assembly line for Siemens Solel 6 solar thermal power plants
Siemens provides its clients with solar power plant production based on solar thermal technology. These solar plants feature large numbers of parabolic troughs installed on poles with propulsion systems to track the sun for efficient solar energy production. The assembly and installation of these plants inadvertently required an enormous amount of work hours.
Siemens approached Ziv-Av for a cost-effective and efficient design of an assembly line for the plants, to supply their customers with ease of installation while minimizing costs.
Ziv-Av designed and developed the assembly line to assemble the complete parabolic segments – facilitating the assembly procedure and reducing costs.
Ziv-Av’s design of the assembly line featured assembling of all the elements of the parabola segments , thus allowing easy to assemble procedures of parabolic mirrors, support structure and pipes.
With Ziv-Av’s special assembly-line design, the assembly procedure was easy to use and fast.
The all-inclusive design by Ziv-Av featured an assembly line of five working stations lie–four of which to assemble all of the parabola segment elements and a fifth for discharging the assembled unit i.e. unloading complete parabola segments from the assembly line.
Ziv-Av designed the assembly-line to be transferable, which enabled dismantling the assembly-line from one field, transporting it in a container and installing it at the new location to kick-start the production immediately.
Ziv-Av’s efficient assembly line design is able to produce a parabolic segment of about 12 meters every 15 minutes –a feat that enables super-fast production.
With their extended services for Siemens, Ziv-Av also produced and supplied a complete prototype assembly-line, guaranteeing a faster production of parabolas and immensely reducing the production costs.
Going further with its serial production services, Ziv-Av supplied and installed three assembly lines in Spain. Each assembly-line has a length of 130 m and capacity to produce 4 parabolic segments per hour with utilization of just 22 workers.
These lines worked for about a year to assemble the solar field near Seville, where over 6,000 parabolic receptor segments were successfully assembled without any incident.
